On the Governor's Desk
AB 649 by Assemblymember Patricia Wiggins, and sponsored by Service Employee International Union (SEIU), passed out of the legislature on August 27, 2004 and is headed for Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's desk for consideration. The bill has evolved over its two year life and is now focused on creating legislative intent to maximize the federal financial participation in the MediCaid program. Also, and most importantly, the measure encourages the state to use these funds for additions to the state's general fund share of the developmental service system.
