I was at an event on Tuesday that Arc of SELA sponsored called “LA Sparks Rally for Respect.” It was an amazing event and I was asked to be a part of the VP reception and also be recognized at intermission! I met Kevin MacDonald from Arc of LA County, what a great guy…what a great opportunity! Unfortunately I couldn’t hear anything that was said about me or the event (Keith is hard of hearing).  It was awesome to see everyone standing and clapping though.

A Moment in Time: ArcSELAWednesday September 3, 2009: The Respect Video played on the Jumbo Screen at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and then the announcer introduced  and told 6 success stories of people with intellectual disabilities scanning the spectrum.  A close up of each individual showed on the Jumbo Screen. The entire crowd then rose up and gave a standing ovation to these individuals.  It was an incredibly emotional moment for the people being honored and the crowd which got the message about Respect.  (Even I almost lost it.). Tuesday September 2, 2009: I hope everyone has great time tonight as the Los Angeles Sparks take on the Atlanta Dream AND the huge Staples Center crowd witnesses advocates, families, and friends as they promote respect for all people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.  Not only is this a great time for all who attend but imagine this huge arena, in the middle of one of the country's largest market, hearing this overall positive message with success stories throughout the game during timeouts and watching the Respect video at halftime.  In case you're not going to be able to be there tonight here's a link to the Respect video that will play on the JumboTron at center court:
