Please Act Now to Save the
Developmental Disability Support System

California's support system for people with developmental disabilities and their family caregivers has been the envy of the country. The Lanterman Act promise of the right services for each individual has been a reality.

But the system has been under-funded for several years as the population of people with developmental disabilities has grown dramatically, and now it is threatened with much more severe budget cuts. The promise may become empty.

The Arc of California is leading the fight to save the Lanterman Act. Now more than ever, we need your help.

If you are able and willing to take action -- make calls, fax letters, attend events locally or in Sacramento -- please join our Action E-List. You'll get statewide and local Action Alerts on saving the Lanterman Act and all of the support system, protecting people with disabilities from abuse and other crimes, preventing developmental disabilities, and the rest of The Arc of California's public policy agenda. You'll also get alerts from The Arc of the United States.

Here's how to join our Action E-List:

1. Go to The Arc of California's Web site, www.ArcCalifornia.org.
2. In the red, white and blue “Write Your Legislators” box, fill in your ZIP code and click on “Go.”
3. Under “California Legislative Action Center,” click on “Action E-List.”
4. Under “Action E-List User Verification,” click on “Sign-Up Form.”
5. Fill in the blanks.
